Cost cutting home builders

We currently have several sites in the north where I am very concerned about what's happening with foundations. The builders on either side of our home builds are not putting any bore piers in and it is clearly a filled site of 0.900 mm plus.  By not putting in a structural support for the slab it will fail over time. Exposed Concrete

A few clients have asked lately how they do exposed concrete. The concrete mix is basically the same as standard concrete with different size aggregate. Once the concrete is laid and trowelled it is then left for several hours depending on the weather. After the concrete has had a chance to cure you use a high pressure hose and it will wash away the top layer and the aggregate is left for view.

Waffle Pods

A visitor to our face book page has asked the question what is a waffle pod? A waffle pod is a polystyrene product designed for the support of concrete within a concrete slab. Basically a waffle pod takes the place of the raft slab which uses packing sand to create the beams and slab support. The waffle pod system saves on time and expense of making up the beams with sand.
